Florida is one of the most active and dynamic real estate markets in the country. From vacation homes to bustling metro areas, it offers new agents a lot of opportunity. If you’re considering becoming a Florida real estate agent, here’s what it takes.

Step 1: Meet the Eligibility Requirements You must:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Have a U.S. Social Security number

Step 2: Complete 63 Hours of Pre-Licensing Education Florida requires 63 hours of approved real estate education.

Step 3: Apply to Take the Licensing Exam Submit your application to the Florida DBPR. The exam fee is $36.75, and you’ll need to submit fingerprints for a background check (approx. $50-$80).

Step 4: Pass the State Exam You must score at least 75 out of 100 to pass. You’ll take the exam at a Pearson VUE testing center.

Step 5: Activate Your License Find a licensed broker to work under and activate your license through the DBPR.
